Starlites JSD have been declared BOV Basketball 1st Division League Champions for the third year running.

Paul Ferrante’s men swept Mellieha Libertas 3-0 in the best-of-5 playoff final to retain the title. The first game saw Mellieha taking the initiative and enjoying a strong lead throughout the game with Starlites closing in and overturning the score in the last 40 seconds of the game to get a 95-93 win. The second game was a close affair until half of the second session where Starlites started edging away from their rivals to obtain a 92-70 win.

The third game saw another dominant performance by the reigning Champions whose superiority was very evident where they closed the game with a score of 100-89 to seal the title.

Ernest Agius, Chief Operations Officer at Bank of Valletta and Joseph Muscat, Secretary General of the Malta Basketball Association presented the BOV Basketball Championship Trophy to Starlites. Starlites’ Davonte Craven was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Final Series and was presented with a commemorative token for his performance.
