St Andrews Youth Team celebrated their win in the BOV Youth Knockout Competition beating Pieta Hotspurs 4-1 in the Final.

St Andrews Youth Team celebrated their win in the BOV Youth Knockout Competition beating Pieta Hotspurs 4-1 in the Final.

The teams who topped the BOV Youth League bottom 6 table confronted each other in the Final played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun.

In a very fast paced match, St Andrew's found the back of the net in the third minute thanks to a strike from Matthew Galliano and doubled on the 19th minute with a goal from Timothy Cassar Torreggiani.

Pieta had the chance to reduce the deficit when they were awarded a penalty on the 23rd minute but Thomas Melillo was denied through a fine save by Sebastian Mifsud. Sheldon Borg pulled one back for Pieta in the 38th minute to send the teams to rest with St Andrew's leading 2-1.

St Andrew's came close to increasing their lead in the 65th minute when substitute Adam Vella received a cross from Benjamin Bonello Ghio but saw his shot go just wide. George Delia scored St Andrew's third goal in the 86th minute converting a penalty and the game was sealed in the 88th minute through a free kick by Ethan Brincat Winters to close off the game with a 4-1 scoreline.

Following the match, Ernest Agius, Chief Operations Officer at Bank of Valletta and Adrian Casha, Vice President of the Malta Football Association presented the BOV Youth Knockout Trophy to the winners.
