Sliema ASC are the winners of the BOV Water Polo Knockout Competition.

Sliema ended San Giljan’s dominance of the local water polo scene beating them 17-13 in the Final.

Sliema went on the early offensive and built a strong lead thanks to 7 goals by Giacomo Cannella and were leading 10-6 halfway through the second session. San Giljan clawed 2 goals back with the score 10-8 for Sliema at half time.

Two goals each from both sides kept Sliema 2 goals up with Jayden Cassar scoring off a rebound of Dino Zammit's shot on the woodwork to put the blues 13-10 up closing the third session.

Jeremy Abela and Nicholas Bugelli made it 13-12. Giacomo Cannella scored 3 more including a 15 metre scorcher to take his tally to 10 making the score 16-12 with 2 minutes to go. Darren Zammit scored for San Giljan with Liam Galea responding for Sliema to maintain a 4 goal lead until the end of the match.

Ernest Agius, Chief Officer at Bank of Valletta and Karl Izzo, President of the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta presented Sliema with the BOV Water Polo Knockout Trophy to the delight of the large crowd of Sliema fans present at the National Pool in Tal-Qroqq.
