Neptunes U16 crowned BOV Water Polo U16 Winter League Champions after victory over Sliema

Neptunes U16 ASC were crowned BOV Water Polo U16 Winter League Champions following a commanding victory over their long-standing rivals Sliema U16 in a highly anticipated final that brought the season to a thrilling close.

In a contest worthy of two of the strongest sides in the competition, Neptunes delivered a composed and clinical performance, securing a 12–5 win to lift the title. Their triumph caps an outstanding campaign, having finished the league unbeaten and consistently setting the pace throughout the season.

While the final scoreline suggests a clear victory, the match itself showcased intensity and quality, with both teams demonstrating the high competitive standards that characterised this year’s U16 competition. The encounter served as a fitting finale, highlighting the depth of emerging talent within Maltese water polo in front of an engaged and appreciative crowd.

At the presentation ceremony, the championship trophy was awarded to the Neptunes captain by Ernest Agius, Chief Operations Officer at Bank of Valletta, together with Karl Izzo, President of the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta, marking the culmination of a highly competitive and successful season.

This year’s U16 competition once again underlined the strength of the local development pathway, with young athletes demonstrating discipline, skill and strong sporting values throughout the season.
