SEPA Regulated and Cross-Border Payments For payments to go through without a glitch and with the right charges make sure that you take note of the below information.

1.0 Payment information:

Enter a valid Beneficiary IBAN.

Ensure that all details are of the intended beneficiary.

Relation refers to your relationship with the beneficiary.

Reason refers to the purpose for paying the beneficiary.

If you are effecting a payment on behalf of another person, include the name of this person in the details of payment (Figure 3).

When the beneficiary name is longer than the maximum number of allowed characters, the remaining beneficiary name details are to be inserted in Address line 1.

Choose ‘Shared’ for charges.

Credit transfers to SEPA countries in currencies other than Euro will carry a different charge.

1.1 United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Bahrain * Outward payments in any currency going to beneficiary banks in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Bahrain need to have the ‘Purpose Code’ included in the Payments details field (Figure 3).1.2 United States of America and Canada

United States of America and Canadian Banks need to have the 9 digit Routing number inserted in the 'Bank branch code' field (Figure 1).

Payments in favour of USA banks, require a 9-digit routing code only or 'FW' / 'ABA' followed by 9 digits.

1.3 Australia

Australian banks will require a bank sort code – insert this in the Bank branch code field. You can either enter the 6-digit sort code or ‘AU’ followed by 6 digits.1.4 United Kingdom

United Kingdom banks require an IBAN. If you are using an account number instead of an IBAN you must include Bank sort code in the Bank branch code field. You can either enter the 6-digit sort code only or ‘SC’ followed by 6 digits.1.5 Non-SEPA Countries

Payments towards non-SEPA countries always require the filling in of the beneficiary address.

When using a Bank, Money Service Bureau or Payment Service Provider to send a payment to another beneficiary ensure to include full details about the ultimate beneficiary and account in the “Payment details” field in the format as per this example “For further credit to Mr Joe Smith, A/C 123456”.

Delays or rejections may arise therefore please note:

Banking practices of correspondent banks are involved in the transaction.

Missing details may result in a rejection by the beneficiary bank.

Also note: * Transfers to EEA countries in any currencies will be marked with changes 'Shared' (Figure 2).

The Bank will not be liable if any such correspondent bank fails to perform the transaction for any reason beyond its control.

Priority Outward Credit Transfers (Same Day Value Payments) * Available in selected currencies.

Charges will be shared.

A higher fee shall apply as per Tariff of Charges.

Payments are done between 0800hrs and 1300hrs on the relative currency Market Business Day.

Other Information


Cash Advance fees will be applicable if a credit card account is used as source (debit) account when effecting transactions. (Vide your credit card terms and conditions of use).
For payments that exceed the equivalent of €30,000 (thirty thousand Euro) and that require a currency conversion, please contact the BOV Customer Service Centre on (356) 2131 2020 to obtain the applicable exchange rate. These payment transactions can only be processed on the Bank's business days between 0830hrs and 1400hrs (CET).
Personal data in relation to transactions effected via SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) may be required to be disclosed to the United States authorities in order to comply with legal requirements applicable in the United States for the prevention of crime.
