Hibernians Clinch BOV 1st Division Basketball League
Hibernians Basketball emerged victorious in the BOV 1st Division League, securing the championship title in game 4 of the best-of-final playoff final against Luxol.
In one of the closest finals in recent history, Hibernians won the first game 69-67 with Luxol winning the second match in the series 100-91 in a match that required overtime. The third game, that also required overtime saw Hibernians take a 2-1 lead with a narrow 101-98 win where they finally sealed the championship with a thrilling 93-83 win in the 4th game to seal the series 3-1.
Hibernians’ American import Tederick Wolfe, was voted as the Most Valuable Player of the Final Playoff Series and was presented with a commemorative trophy for his achievement. Wolfe’s high efficiency at both ends of the court saw him obtain a total of 128 points as well as 46 rebounds in the 4 games of the final making him the automatic choice for this award.
Ernest Agius, Chief Operations Officer at Bank of Valletta, accompanied by Paul Sultana, President of the Malta Basketball Association presented the BOV Basketball 1st Division League Trophy to the new champions.
