Hibernians are the BOV Basketball Amateur League Champions
Hibernians emerged victorious in the BOV Basketball Amateur League Playoff Finals to secure the title. Hibernians swept Qormi Dragons 3-0 in the best-of-5 playoff final to claim the crown.
Hibernians were clearly the superior team in the series starting with a dominant performance to take home a 30-point victory with an 87-57 scoreline and the advantage in the series. They had Teodor Gjurovski with 30 points and 15 rebounds together while Luke Attard had 27 points and 7 rebounds.
The second game in the series saw Hibernians obtaining another 90-67 win with Stefan Simic tallying 28 points and 12 rebounds with Luke Attard providing 7 assets to complement his 11 points.
The third game was a close affair until the last minutes of the third quarter when at 61-59 for Hibernians, Qormi lost playmaker Christoff through an injury with 22 points to his credit. Despite their valiant efforts, Hibernians closed the game with an 85-78 scoreline to win their 5th BOV Amateur League Championship.
With 64 points, 28 rebounds and 22 assists in the final series, Stefan Simic was declared Most Valuable Player of the Final Playoff Series and was presented with a custom-made token by The MBA President Paul Sultana in the presence of Ernest Agius, Chief Operations Officer at Bank of Valletta to commemorate his performance
Ernest Agius proceeded to present the BOV Basketball Amateur League Trophy to Hibernians captain Luke Attard to kick of the team’s celebrations with their fans.
