Mr Hadrian Sammut currently chairs the Technology and Digital Strategy Committee and is additionally a member of the Bank’s Audit Committee, as well as the Risk Committee. He has broad experience in strategic implementation and holistic management of digital and operational information systems.
Over the past 40 years, Mr Sammut has had an extensive career in the field of Information Technology (IT), having been heavily involved in the implementation of several large-scale projects in both the public and private sector.
Mr Sammut started his career at the Central Bank of Malta and was involved in the implementation of the first banking and financial information system within this institution. He then joined the Malta Stock Exchange, developing the initial back-office trading system and instituting Malta’s first digital Central Securities Depository (CSD).
Subsequently, he assumed responsibility for the strategic planning and programme management endeavours related to the implementation of the Malta Government’s first Departmental Accounting System (DAS). As an Associate Director with a leading ‘Big Four’ audit firm, Mr Sammut also provided information system and project advisory services to various local and foreign clients.
In his career, Mr Sammut has also been responsible for multiple engagements related to solution implementation, digitalisation initiatives, technology governance, performance, and compliance across various regulated business sectors, both locally and abroad.
As a keen bibliophile, Mr Sammut also acts as a visiting lecturer within the Faculty of Media & Knowledge Sciences (MAKS) of the University of Malta, teaching the principles of analysis, design, implementation, and management of library information systems as well as information organisation and collection management.
Mr Sammut holds an MBA degree in E-commerce from the University of Malta and a BSc (Hons.) degree in computing from the University of Greenwich, UK.
