Driven by Charles Camilleri, Dreamer Boy is the winner of the BOV Tazza l-Kbira 2024.
Supported by Bank of Valletta, The final of the BOV Tazza l-Kbira, the most prestigious harness race in the local trotting calendar was the main attraction of the 19th race meeting of 2024. The French Stallion won the coveted trophy raced over the traditional 2,640 metre distance, with Camilleri achieving his third win in the prestigious cup after victories in 2013 and 2018.
Dreamer Boy won the race in a total time of 3’13”92, clocking an average of 1.13.5 minutes per kilometre, equalling the record for the final of the BOV Tazza L-Kbira to win the race reserved for Premier Class horses.
Following the race, Bank of Valletta CEO Kenneth Farrugia and Malta Equidrome President Dr Edwin Brincat together with The Hon Clifton Grima Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation presented the BOV Tazza l-Kbira to owner Stephen Ciangura and driver Charles Camilleri. This was held in the presence of a number of officials of the Malta Racing Club. The winner also received a custom made trophy to commemorate the 90th anniversary from the first ever Tazza l-Kbira held in 1934.
The final was preceded by a parade by all 12 horses participating in the BOV Tazza l-Kbira, led by 2022 winner Charming Soldier together with a parade and static display by the Classic Sports Cars Club Malta to the delight of all horse enthusiasts present.
The 90th Anniversary of the BOV Tazza l-Kbira coincides with Bank of Valletta’s 50th year of operations providing quality financial services for half a century.
