BOV Basketball Knockout Competitions Fixtures drawn
Fixtures for the BOV Basketball Knockout Competitions for the BOV Men’s First Division and the BOV Amateur League were drawn by Ernest Agius, Chief Operations Officer at Bank of Valletta and Paul Sultana, President of the Malta Basketball Association at the Basketball Pavilion in Ta’ Qali.
7 teams will be vying for the prestigious cup in each division with the BOV Amateur Knockout Competition being played between the 15th November 2024 with the final being held on the 1st December. The BOV 1st Division Knockout is being held later in the season commencing on the 16th February 2025 with the final being contested on the 2nd March 2025.
‘We are witnessing a constant increase in interest in the game of basketball with new clubs participating in our competitions with the number of teams now totalling 14,’ said the MBA President. ‘The formation of new clubs will result in an increase of players competing at the highest level of local basketball which contributes to elevate the level of the game, which is the ultimate goal of the Malta Basketball Association.’
‘The collaboration between Bank of Valletta and the Malta Basketball Association can be traced back to the 1970s, and this year is an important milestone for both organisations, where BOV is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with the MBA reaching its 60th year,’ said Mr Agius. ‘Both organisations have strived to deliver at the highest level throughout the years and we at Bank of Valletta are happy to be here drawing the BOV Knockout Competitions fixtures for the largest team pool in many years.’
