Balzan FC were crowned champions of the BOV Challenge League following a thrilling conclusion to the season, with the title race remaining undecided until the very last match day.

Going into the final round of fixtures, Balzan and Swieqi United were level at the top of the table on 45 points, while Birżebbuġa St Peter’s, on 43 points, still retained an outside chance of claiming the championship. This set the stage for a dramatic finale to what proved to be a highly competitive division.

Balzan rose to the occasion with a crucial 2-0 victory over Melita, securing the three points required to seal the championship. Meanwhile, title rivals Swieqi were held to a 1-1 draw by Fgura United in their final match of the campaign, a result that proved decisive in the final standings and allowed Balzan to finish the season at the summit.

Following the match, the BOV Challenge League trophy was presented to the new champions by Mr Ernest Agius, Chief Officer at Bank of Valletta, together with Mr Matthew Paris, Vice President of the Malta Football Association, marking a memorable moment for the club, its players, officials and supporters.

The season once again highlighted the competitiveness and excitement of the BOV Challenge League, with the championship race going down to the final whistle and Balzan ultimately emerging as worthy and deserving champions.
