Earn yourself some points this Valentine's Day
13 Feb 2019

Let’s face it….’without Valentine’s Day, February would be….well, January’ said Jim Gaffigan.

February being normally grey and drab, we need some colour and love and Mr Cupid decided to do the job for us.  All well and good, who doesn’t love some love?  But most of us are still recovering from the frenzy gift buying for Christmas, when we find ourselves bang on having to deal with Valentine’s Day, scratching our heads and trying to come up with ideas on how to make our significant other swoon all over us.

If you are still pondering on what to buy or do, or if you have forgotten all about Valentine’s Day and the less than subtle hints of your loving partner were not enough, or the rose adverts did not trigger any reminders, here is another reminder.  Despair not, here are some ideas:

- Treat your Valentine (and yourself) to a relaxing Spa experience, alternatively if you’re still strapped for cash, buy the stuff yourself and do it at home.  All you need is some clay masks, scrubs, moisturizer and candles

- Watch the sunset or go star gazing (hoping for a clear day here) with a bottle of good wine, some oysters and chocolates.  Remember to take a blanket to sit on.  And if it rains, you can always hug in the rain and run to the car….I mean with oysters who cares about the location?

- Go for the traditional choice and wine and dine your love at a cosy restaurant.  But make it extra special by choosing a cuisine your partner loves, which might not necessarily be your favourite food (remember the day is to show love to someone else)

- If it’s too late to book a restaurant, whip up a home cooked meal and partner it with some well thought out décor like candles, petals and love hearts.  And no, pastizzi are not an option, so do spend some time thinking up the menu.  And if you are not such a good cook, you will find some nifty ideas for cooking dummies on the net.

- Fill up a box with small thoughtful gifts that have a deep meaning for your significant other.  Make it even more meaningful with a BOV Prepaid Card so that your love can buy anything they like. Wrap each gift separately and put in a special handwritten message with each gift.  Then lean back and watch your partner’s reaction.

- Pack your bags and surprise your partner with a short staycation in a 5-star or boutique hotel.  It will be a gift for two.  And if it’s not too late, you might even consider a short trip abroad.

- If all else fails, a gorgeous bouquet of roses, a box of sumptuous chocolates and a teddy bear (at no cost DO NOT forget the card!) might even do the trick!

Oh and if you use your BOV Skypass, BOV VISA Gold Card or BOV VISA Platinum Card, you will get yourself some love!  You can purchase anything with your BOV cards - that box of chocolate, wine, dinner, oysters even the St Valentine’s Card. At the same time you will be earning yourself points in the BOV Loyalty Scheme which can be exchanged for great gifts such as travel, hotel stays, a SPA day, clothes, wine, electronics, household gifts and more.  Who knows, maybe for your next romantic appointment you will redeem your points and get your partner’s gift for free !

Terms and conditions apply.  For more information on the BOV Loyalty Scheme
