The funds collected through the L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign 2021 amounted to €60,800, exceeding the previous year’s mark for the second year running as a testament to the solidarity of our youth.
The funds were collected from all primary and secondary schools in Malta and Gozo through the environmentally friendly cardboard Piggy Banks that were first used for last year’s campaign and featured the winning 3 drawings from a competition organised by the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.
BOV Director Anita Mangion, accompanied by Charles Azzopardi, Head CSR and Communication at Bank of Valletta presented the sum collected together with a €200,000 donation through the Bank’s Community Programme during the live broadcast of L-Istrina.
‘Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the altruism and solidarity that the Maltese people are renowned for, came again to the fore through the campaign that is now in its 18th consecutive year,’ said Ms Mangion. ‘We take this opportunity to thank all the children and their parents for donating towards this campaign as well as the MCCFF volunteers and BOV staff members whose contribution was essential for us to proudly present these funds to the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation and its valuable mission across the Maltese Islands.’
