Alex Degabriele is the winner of the BOV Masters Top 8 Tennis Tournament. Delicata beat Liam Delicata 6-4 4-6 6-2 in the final of the tournament held at the Marsa Sports Club.
The BOV Masters Top 8 tournament is the last tournament of the calendar year, organised by the Malta Tennis Federation with the support of Bank of Valletta sees the top 8 ranked players who are eligible to represent Malta in international events battle for the last tournament of the calendar year.
Degabriele, 17 and Delicata, 20, showed why they are considered as Malta’s brightest prospects in tennis, with a fine display of skill and athleticism. Degabriele played a very aggressive style from the beginning, breaking Delicata’s first serve to win the first set. A series of breaks and strong defensive play saw Delicata win the second set, however Degabriele’s attacking style of tennis got the upper hand in the third set to land him the title.
Stefan Abela, Manager, CSR and Communications at Bank of Valletta and David Farrugia Sacco, President of the Malta Tennis Federation in the presence of Charlene Attard, Director of Sports at the Malta Olympic Committee presented the trophy to the new champion.
This is the 9th edition of the BOV Masters Top 8 tournament benefitting from Bank of Valletta’s support in line with the Bank’s ESG Commitments.
