Sirens confirmed their status as Malta’s top Water Polo Women’s team, winning the BOV Water Polo Women’s League for the second year in a row.
Sirens edged San Giljan 9-8 in the Final in a hard fought match that saw San Giljan lead 5-4 at half time. Sirens scored 4 goals without an answer from San Giljan in the third session to take an 8-5 lead going into the final session, however a goal from Michela Zammit and 2 goals from Elena Borg brought the teams on equal level with 4 minutes to go. Sirens took the lead again with a goal by Denise Micallef and managed to control their advantage until the final whistle.
Joe Agius, Chief Technology Officer at Bank of Valletta, accompanied by Joe Caruana Curran, President of the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta presented the medals and the BOV Women’s Water Polo League trophy to the new Champions.
