Alex Degabriele wins BOV Tennis Masters Tournament 2022

Alex Degabriele beat Liam Delicata 6-1 6-3 in the final of the BOV Tennis Masters Tournament 2022 to win the tournament for the second year running.

The match was a repeat of last year’s final consolidating the two youngsters as the future of Maltese tennis, with Degabriele again prevailing over his opponent.

The BOV Masters Top 8 tournament is organised by the Malta Tennis Federation with the support of Bank of Valletta and sees the top 8 ranked players who are eligible to represent Malta in international events take to the court in the last tournament of the calendar year.  

In the first set, Degabriele won his opening serve and broke Delicata's service for a 2-0 lead. Delicata broke Degabriele's service to make the score 2-1 but Degabriele proceeded to win the next 4 games to take the first set 6-1.

Degabriele continued to play aggressively in the second set breaking Delicata’s service twice to win the set 6-3 and the match.

Stefan Abela, Manager, CSR at Bank of Valletta in the presence of Malta Tennis Federation Secretary General John Sciberras, Technical Director Stephen Caruana and Malta Olympic Committee Director of Sports Charlene Attard presented the trophy to Degabriele.

Bank of Valletta’s commitment towards sporting activities is testament to the Bank’s belief in the physical and mental benefits of sports. This is the 13th consecutive edition of the BOV Tennis Masters Top 8 Tournament benefitting from the Bank’s support.
