The EUROFI High Level Seminar 2017 is being organised in Malta between the 5th and 7th April, in association with the Maltese EU Council Presidency. Bank of Valletta is supporting this high level event, which sees top representatives from the financial services industry and regulators exchanging views about the recent regulatory developments in the financial service arena.
Speaking about the Bank’s involvement in this event, Mario Mallia, Chief Executive Officer at Bank of Valletta explained, “This event, which is being hosted in Malta for the first time, constitutes an excellent opportunity for top European and American banks to share their concerns with regulators. Today, regulation plays a critical role in all aspects of the financial services world. I am confident that the exchanges that will ensue will yield a healthy dialogue, that will bring these two key players closer together.”
This Seminar is one of two major international events that are organised by this NGO that sees industry leaders and EU and international public decision makers meet to discuss major on-going regulatory projects in the financial area and the role of the financial sector in fostering economic growth. Among the topics lined up for discussion, the most important are the measures and instruments needed to ensure an appropriate financing of the EU economy, the evolution of the prudential and regulatory framework of banks and insurance companies as well as the prospects of digitalization and fintech.
Eurofi is a not-for-profit organization created in 2000. It is a platform for exchanges between the financial services industry and the public authorities addressing issues relating to the evolution of financial regulation and supervision and the economic and monetary context impacting the EU financial sector.
