Xewkjja Tigers striker Gennaro Hili is the BOV GFA Player of the Month for December 2016.
During December, Hili was a major influence in Xewkija’s two decisive victories against Għajnsielem and Nadur Yougsters. Gennaro scored both goals in Xewkija’s 2-0 win over Għajnsielem as well as scoring the first goal in their identical victory over Nadur. The points gained through these victories helped them recover the climb up the table and they are now sharing the top spot with Nadur Youngsters.
Twenty-year old Gennaro is one of the most promising young players in Gozo football. His football career started in the Xewkija nursery. He had also played in the Malta FA Youth section with Hibernians and Hamrun Spartans. He has won several honours, both individually and with different teams in the Youths sector, as well as major honours since forming part of the Xewkija senior’s team. This is the first time that Hili has won this individual award.
The presentation of the trophy was made by the BOV Regional Manager for Gozo, Horace Laudi in the presence of the Secretary of the GFA Tony Grech, club officers and Xewkija players. Gennaro decided that the donation associated with this award goes to Arka Foundation.
