BOV Basketball Players of the Year Announced

The BOV Basketball Players of the Year for season 2021/20122 were announced during a ceremony held at MBA Basketball Complex in Ta’ Qali. 

The winners in each category was presented with an award by Paul Sultana, President of the Malta Basketball Association and Ray Debattista, Chief Officer at Bank of Valletta.

‘The BOV Basketball Player of the Year award goes beyond the skills displayed on the court but includes a number of traits that are not easily identifiable, such as game awareness, the desire to improve and mental strength,’ said the MBA President. ‘The BOV Basketball Player of the Year Award is the highest individual honour that a player can receive as a testimonial to what makes them great players.’

‘It is an honour to be surrounded by the top talent in the local basketball scene’ said Ray Debattista. ‘These players have all done something really remarkable over the last basketball season and are an asset to their team and to the local basketball community.’

The winners in each category:

BOV Men 1st Division – Alec Felice Pace (Starlites)

BOV Men Amateur League – Victor Capkanovski (Fusion)

Women’s League – Josephine Diaby Grima (Luxol)

Under 23 Men - Matthew Scerri (Starlites)

Under 23 Women - Mikela Riolo (Starlites)

Under 19 Men – Matthew Attard (Hibsernians)

Under 19 Women – Ylenia Bonett (Hibernians)

Under 16 Boys – Sebastian Pace (Starlites)

Under 16 Girls – Anna Fenech Pace (Luxol)

Under 14 Boys – Lav Colic (Eurobasket)

Under 14 Girls – Shanise Farrugia (Luxol)
