BOV Sailing Regatta adapts to current Situation
11 Nov 2020

The Royal Malta Yacht Club is expected to welcome around 23 boats for the BOV Sailing Regatta 2020 that include keelboats, SB20 – Sport Boats and J92s classes.

Traditionally, the BOV Gozo Regatta, the first local sailing race following the Rolex Middle Sea Race, is adapting to the current times and abiding by the Health Authority regulations. In view of the current Covid-19 situation, the Royal Malta Yacht Club, in collaboration with Bank of Valletta, implemented a number of protocols to ensure a safe racing environment and has deemed it fit to move away from Gozo as a base and the plan for the weekend will see racing take place off the East Coast of Malta. The Regatta will see shorter races for the Racing Category and longer courses designed for the Cruising Class.

The Regatta is being held between Friday 13th and Sunday 15th December 2020 with a total of 5 races for the Racing Class and 3 races for the Cruising Class with crews limited to 10 persons.

This is the second consecutive year that the regatta is taking place along Malta’s shores, with last year’s event also transferred to Malta due to inclement weather.

Bank of Valletta is a major supporter of sporting initiatives in Malta and has been a long-term partner of the Royal Malta Yacht Club in various races throughout the years.
