The Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2) enables payment service users to use account information and payment initiation services (AISP & PISP) offered by Third Party Providers ( TPPs)This requires account service payment service providers to establish the access interfaces through which TPPs can access the customers’ payment accounts in a secure manner.
Customers that use an online banking account to make payments or to manage their finances and access their account details can do so through software developed by authorised third party providers (TPPs).
The BOV PSD2 dedicated interface is live. Bank of Valletta PSD2 API is free to use for certified AISP, PISP and PIISP services. Bank of Valletta PSD2 API is designed on a RESTful model using JSON structures. It is based on NextGenPSD2 framework version 1.3.6, also known as Berlin Group standard.
Third Party Providers (TPPs) are now able to connect to the Bank of Valletta dedicated API interface for providing aggregation and other relevant services to customers. Within the documentation, TPPs can find the access details for using the testing facility .
Bank of Valletta has made two environments available for TPPs:
- Sandbox - The Sandbox Test Environment is where TPPs can experiment and test the application for PSD2 open banking
- Production - Once testing is complete on our Sandbox, TPPs can then start working with the production environment offering PSD2 open banking solution services to customers.
