Bank Accounts 
 Tips on saving on charges
Dormant Account -  €35.00 per annum per account (applicable from 18 March 2022)

A Deposit Account that has not been used / idle / no financial withdrawals or deposits effected for 2 years. 

Does not apply to Young Savers Accounts, Basic Payment Accounts, Portfolio Investment Accounts or Fixed Term Deposit Accounts

Don’t leave your accounts idle for two years.  Use them
You can withdraw or deposit.  If you don’t need your account, simply close it by going to your BOV Branch. 
Combined Accounts Average Book Balance less than 200.00 € or FC - Currently Suspended
€10.00 per quarter per customer

Applies to Savings Accounts and Call Accounts domiciled in euro or foreign currency e.g. €200.00, GBP200, USD 200 etc.

Does not apply to BOV Club Accounts, Young Savers Accounts and Basic Payment Accounts.
 
 

Your savings accounts in total should have an average book balance of €200.00. 

Deposit enough funds in your accounts. 

So let’s say you have 2 Savings Accounts and you need both of them.  Every quarter you must ensure that you have €400.00 as a total in your accounts e.g. Account A €300.00 and Account B €100.00.
Early Closure Charge – € 10.00

Account is closed by customer within 6 months from opening date
 


 Don’t close your account before 6 months from date of opening.
Statement requests 

Request for up-to-date paper statement (update from the last official statement issued):

Monthly requests:  Free of charge                       

Additional requests for paper statement:

  • Over the counter - free of charge
  • Through digital channels (24x7) and ATM - €1.50 per statement

Request for back-dated paper statement:

  • Over the counter immediate print statement dated from 01.07.2014 onwards - free
  • By post - €1.50 / printed page
  • Through digital channels (24x7) - €1.25 / printed page

Mailed statements are provided free of charge for customers not subscribed to BOV 24x7

Every month you are eligible for one free up-to-date printed statement. Make sure you file your statements in a safe place for future use.

Do you really need more? Check your transaction lists through internet banking for free up–to-date records. Statements are also available on your BOV Internet Banking.

You can access your e-statements anytime with these simple steps:

1. Log on to your BOV Internet Banking
2. Select ‘My Money’
3. Select ‘View Statement Images’
4. Choose the required bank account and statement period
5. View, save as pdf, print or order official statement

Cheque Based Services
 Tips on saving on charges
CBM Cheque or BOV Cheque Encashment at Branch - €5.00 
Deposit cheque in your account through ATM or Cheque Deposit Box at your branch.

If you deposit your CBM or BOV cheque through a BOV super ATM (Monday to Friday before 5 pm) your cheque will be in your account within an hour! You can then withdraw the amount you require. No need to queue at the Branch!

Get rid of all the extra hassle and make arrangements to receive money by direct credit. Speak with the entity or individuals who are sending you the payment.

Issue of Bill Payable / Local Banker Draft - €5.00    Use BOV Internet Banking or Mobile Banking to pay someone anytime anywhere.  No need to queue at the Branch!
Cheque Offences - €30.00 per cheque 

Charges for Cheques referred/drawn against insufficient funds whether honoured or dishonoured by the Bank

Repeated Cheque Offence - more than 3 cheque offences in a month - €10.00
Repeat Cheque Offence in second month - €10.00

Repeat Cheque Offence in subsequent third month – cheque book/s will be withdrawn
Make sure you have enough money in your account before issuing a cheque. If you do this multiple times, the Bank will withdraw your chequebook/s. 

Remember that issuing a cheque when you do not have enough funds is a criminal offence. 

Reduce your cheque usage for peace of mind and use from a wide range of alternative payment methods such as BOV Cards, BOV Pay, BOV Mobile to Mobile Payments, BOV Internet Banking and BOV Mobile Banking. 

Order of Foreign Currency Drafts (excludes foreign bank charges as applicable) - € 35.00
Use BOV Internet Banking for cheaper foreign currency payments. You can also use your BOV Cashlink Visa or BOV Credit Card to pay foreign third parties free of charge. 
Chequebook Orders 
• 20 cheques - €1.50 per chequebook (inc. postage)
• 40 cheques - €2.50 per chequebook (inc. postage)

Cheque Charge to Issuer 
Charge is incurred by customer / business issuing cheque 

Customers issuing more than 100 cheques per year will incur a fee of €100 and €1.00 per cheque thereafter.  i.e. if you issue 101 cheques per calendar year, you will be charged €101.
 
 
Why use cheques?  

Use BOV Internet Banking, BOV Mobile, BOV Mobile to Mobile Payments, BOV Pay, BOV Cards, direct debits, standing orders or batch payments to pay safely, securely and at very low cost or no cost at all.

You can view cheque images free of charge through your BOV Internet Banking anytime with these simple steps:

1. Log on to your BOV Internet Banking
2. Select ‘My Money’
3. Select ‘View Cheque Images’
4. Select your cheque account and key in the number of the cheque you wish to view
5. Select ‘View’

Standing Orders Over the counter Set Up Fee - €2.50

This fee is for standing orders set up at a BOV Branch or office
 
You can set up Standing Orders free of charge through your BOV Internet Banking anytime with these simple steps:

1. Log on to your BOV Internet Banking
2. Select ‘My Payments
3. Select ‘Set up a Standing Order
4. Key in the required details

New standing orders will become available for viewing within two working days from date of creation.

You can also cancel Standing Orders through ‘Manage my Payments’. 
Unprocessed Standing Order - €20.00
(e.g. due to insufficient funds)
Make sure that you have enough money in your account before the standing order is due.  Check your account balances.
Bill Payments over the counter - € 2.50 

Charge to customer paying bill.  Excludes payments for BOV Services 
 


Why queue at the Branch to pay your bills? 

You can easily pay your bills through BOV Internet Banking and BOV Mobile Banking free of charge at anytime from anywhere. You can also pay using your BOV Card through your supplier’s or service provider’s website.

BOV Cards
 Tips on saving on charges
Newly issued card collected from Branch or Head Office  €10.00 
No need to collect your Card.  We will send it free of charge by post.
Credit Card Late Payment Fee: Second and subsequent months €15 per month 
So many things you can do so you never get charged a late repayment fee!
  • Set up a standing order for any credit card
  • Set up a direct debit mandate for BOV Visa Gold and Platinum
  • Use the future dated function on your BOV internet banking to set up future transfers from your savings account to your credit card.
  • Simply set up a reminder on your personal calendar and transfer the money through your BOV Internet Banking. 
You can set up Standing Orders free of charge through your BOV Internet Banking anytime with these simple steps:

1. Log on to your BOV Internet Banking
2. Select ‘My Payments
3. Select ‘Set up a Standing Order
4. Key in the required details

Paper based reprint of statement
€1 per page and €25 per statement for statements issued prior to Financial Year 2000 
Statements are issued every month. Make sure you file it securely, so when you need it you don’t have to ask for a reprint. 

Statements are also available on your BOV Internet Banking.
You can access your e-statements anytime with these simple steps:

1. Log on to your BOV Internet Banking
2. Select ‘My Money
3. Select ‘View Statement Images
4. Choose the required bank account and statement period
5. View, save as pdf, print or order official statement
Paper based copy of statement for customers with a BOV 24x7 Internet Banking Subscription

€1 per page and €25 per statement for statements prior to Financial Year 2000 
You can access your monthly card statements through your BOV Internet Banking by following these steps:

1. Log on to your BOV Internet Banking
2. Select ‘My Money
3. Select ‘View Statement Images
4. Choose the required bank account and statement period
5. View, save as pdf, print or order official statement
