The BOV Basic Payment Account is a bank account, for personal use, offering a set of basic banking products and services. 

It will help you keep track of your expenses, pay your bills and receive money. You will receive statements at regular intervals and you can manage your account using any of the Bank's self-service banking channels including ATMs, BOV Internet Banking and BOV Mobile. 

The BOV Basic Payment Account can only be used for your personal purposes. You can use it to receive your salary / pension and pay expenses, but you cannot use it for a business or for a charity, club, society or other organisation. 

You cannot opt for a BOV Basic Payment Account if you already hold another bank account in Malta, even if it is with another bank.

With a BOV Basic Payment account you will be able to:
  • deposit or withdraw your funds anytime
  • keep track of your account balance
  • manager your account with a BOV CashlinkPay
  • provide instructions on standing orders and direct credits or debits (through your BOV Relationship Officer or via your BOV Internet Banking)
So, a BOV Basic Payment Account gives you:
  • flexibility by gaining access to our extensive retail network as well as self-service banking channels; 
  • availability of funds (24 hrs-a-day, 7 days-a-week) via our fleet of ATMs, BOV 247 Services and BOV Mobile;
  • ability to track your money easily 24 hours a day
  • ability to effect payments easily by using your BOV CashlinkPay, or your BOV Mobile.

The BOV Basic Payment Account is interest-free.

Fees and Charges

Fees and charges may change after this account has been opened. Peripheral products and services may incur their own costs as specified in the Bank's Tariff of Charges.

To open a BOV Basic Payment Account, you will need to:
  • Present a legally recognised identification document which confirms that you are a legal EU Resident; and
  • Present proof of address; and
  • Present a letter of introduction from your employer if your salary will be deposited in the Basic Payment Account, and
  • Not hold any other account with, at least, the same features as the Basic Payment Account with any other credit institution located in Malta, or having one, intends to close it.
