The 2010 edition of the BOV National Waterpolo Championship will see nine teams competing for the summer’s premier local sporting event and commencing on Wednesday 16th June 2010.
The fixtures for this year’s edition were drawn by Peter Perotti, Chief Officer Bank of Valletta and Dr Austin Sammut, President of the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta during a press conference held at Bank of Valletta’s Head Office in Santa Venera in the presence of Remy D’Amato, ASA General Secretary.

“Just this last weekend we have witnessed a great sporting duel which required extra time to determine the BOV Waterpolo Winter League Champions”, said Mr Perotti. “This is the third Waterpolo League under the BOV sponsorship and we are confident that with the Bank’s support, the level of the game, both on a national and on an international level will reach new heights with greater competitiveness among the participating teams.”
Dr Sammut said “once again the ASA expressers its gratitude to BOV for its support. We are sure that the relationship between the Bank and the Association will not only continue in the years to come, but will be strengthened. We look forward to a highly competitive season, and interesting international commitments, come October. The latter will involve new and substantial financial burdens for the ASA.”
Before the fixture draws, Mr Perotti and Dr Sammut presented the BOV Waterpolo Player of the Year Award to Josie Cachia of Sliema ASC while Timmy Sullivan of Exiles SC was presented with the Player of the Year 2008 award for a 2nd Division player.
